Safety first, every time

Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it away from children and animals.

Burn on a heat-proof, level surface, clear of curtains, paper and anything that can catch.

Trim the wick to about 6mm before each burn to stop smoking and tunnelling.

Stop burning when roughly 1cm of wax remains in the vessel.

Dressed candles carry herbs and oils — expect a livelier flame and watch it closely.

Glass can heat. Let a vessel cool fully before moving it.
