How to Work This Candle:
1. Write your petition on brown paper, torn from a bag—ain’t no scissors. Use red ink or pencil.

Petition Examples:
• “Let me win this case and silence every tongue that speaks against me.”
• “High John, walk with me and give me the strength to claim what’s mine.”
• “Break every chain, clear my path, and put me on top.”
• “Let favor, luck, and confidence flood my life. I take back my power.”
2. Fold it toward you, three times. Place it under the candle with a piece of your personal concern.
3. Burn it on a Thursday, Sunday, or full moon. Talk to that flame every time you light it.
4. Keep a High John root near the candle and carry it after the work is done.

To petition him, set him a small altar on a table. Light his candle, offer him a cup of water, 2 cups of coffee one without sugar and one with sugar, pour him a cup of gin or red wine. You may also offer him a cigar and light it for him like an incense everyday while you’re praying. This is a temporary altar. Once the ritual is finished you can dismantle the altar.
